Dear Reader Friends,
Writing When Love Finds You has been an incredible journey for my writing experience. But more than that, I’ve been privileged to share with great Reader Friends like you. Your reading has been one of the greatest encouragements for me. Till now, I still can’t remember what triggered the story line really. Except of course my love for love and wanting to write a story that fronts love and weight-loss away from the dazzling movie narratives to just daily real life experiences. I honestly, don’t know if I did that well. I do know however that I’ve learnt as much if not more than I’ve written. Kate’s and Kwaku’s roller coaster marriage (which I didn’t plan, if you’d believe me) has really put before me many questions for my own life I’m yet to find answers for; questions of hope and persistence and giving up and letting go and forgiving and loving fiercely and losing greatly too. And oh, not to talk of Sefa and Fiona and the mummy drama. I also love that Dzidzor was beginning to learn to see God as supremely satisfying before the story ended – supremely satisfying than a trimmer her, living up to her parent’s standards or even a great love story. It teaches God as everything as he is to be for everyone, as he died to be for everyone. Sule hasn’t quite resolved all his issues but there’s a lot to learn. I love that he’s growing to be a man who’d stay and confront rather than ran. Hopefully, he’d become better at that. I believe Matey, Tara, Freda, Senam, Jonathan and even Suzzie have shown us life and love from different, very different spectacles. At the core, I hope the stories of the men and women in When Love Finds You have challenged yours about love and because of it, you’re closer to seeing God’s perspective. I don’t know if I would and should write a sequel. You can let me know your thoughts. Before you run off, take a moment and share your favorite moments and lessons from this story with me. It’s always a great encouragement.
Love,
M’afua Awo Twumwaah.
PS: Another novel or perhaps novella will show but till then, look out for short stories buttered with love and faith and perhaps fun. Also, I’ll be taking my shots at poetry. Oh, yes please, the whole When Love Finds You novel is here.
