What To Do When You Don’t Know What To Do

Keep doing what you’ve been doing.
Yes, keep doing what you were doing before you thought there should be something else to be done and found out there’s none and then got stuck. Pretty simple!

This thing I’m talking about is what I heard Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams say during a business summit organized somewhere this year. He was specifically addressing Christians in leadership, in the church, outside of the church. He was talking about when Christians can’t seem to hear anything more from God to move on, to know what step is the next to take. That answer of his to this scenario shone a bright light on my dark days from that day forward. I haven’t totally succeeded every day. But it’s been such an eye-opener. I don’t need to wait to hear more, know more, see more before I live in any area of life. The Archbishop sure was addressing a specific audience but doesn’t this sound true for anyone?

I don’t need to wait to hear more, know more, see more before I live in any area of life.

It’s human to seek out new ways, new refreshing solutions for the same old tasks, dreams, visions. And that’s fine. It’s progressive and needed even. But imagine doctors say they can’t treat cancers anymore because they’ve not broken through their researches into all the varied types of cancers. They aren’t sure so they’d do nothing. Mmhm, it shouldn’t be you’re thinking to yourself. And it shouldn’t be in your case too. Waiting for the new before you act isn’t the best you can do. When you don’t know what to do, do what you know how to, what you’ve been doing all along.

It may seem you are in a rut. That nothing much is happening. But folding your arms waiting for Prince charming to kiss you awake really doesn’t work in reality. Find something for your hands to do. There in the middle of it, you’ll catch the idea or vision you’ve been waiting for to take you to your next level. Even if you don’t, you’ll be doing what you know you are supposed to. That’s enough till the aha moment happens. So, don’t stay stuck. Keep rocking the old.
