Dear friends,
Yet another great journal by Kwaw’s wife. I did enjoy our journey through First April through to Tale of Whys and now, here. Did you enjoy this one too? I enjoyed the challenge of writing this short story over three days because I was totally scared of the blank pages and the keyboard.
In The Eve of Christmas as with First April and Tale of Whys, Kwaw’s wife presents us with another unique and fun love story. Just like the two, she allows us see love can’t be late no matter how early we wanted it or how wrong we started out with the other party.
However unlike the two, she spares us much of the detail from the eyes of Calvin and Tracy and takes a much fuller control. Maybe it’s because she’s pregnant.
I personally love this story because just as Calvin and Tracy are challenged to step into an uncomfortable love, it wasn’t too comfortable to write this. Life comes with challenges and we must learn to embrace them – whether the challenge of writing a good novel (baha) or the challenge in finding a perfect match or in being one. And I love this story because it draws us away from the fairy tale of the narrator’s own love story to a love that comes somewhat tough and peppered. We don’t see too much sugar here. We see dislike that gives away to admiration and then commitment.
Whenever you read this, just remember butterflies aren’t always the deal, sometimes, you just meet the person, want the person and commit to love them as you will you. And God makes it all possible.
Because of Him
M’afua Awo Twumwaah.
