Reader Letter: Trailed.

Dear friends,

I wrote Trailed, the sequence to Trapped finally. I did because as I said in my letter to you in Trapped, the overwhelming dissatisfaction both on my part and my readers about how Trapped ended was too much to be silent about.

In Trailed, as I suspect you already predicted, Jones and Ayorkor found themselves in each other’s arms again. I loved that they did. Especially that it gives little Jones a father figure and he will forever know that promises are kept. And I love the fact that Ayorkor’s bold but yet pain-filled decision birthed for herself and Jones a life of love that is far more important than theirs. For me, this truth – that God will do far more than we can think or ask and will make all things beautiful in his time – is one worth fighting, hoping and waiting for.

As I read I realized actually walking out of an unhealthy relationship could eventually not do good for only you but for the other person as well. I can’t help but conclude that sometimes love means walking away and allowing yourself and the other person choose the other unwanted alternative.

I pray your heart swells at this beautiful redemptive story as mine did writing it. And I hope you also will someday when faced with Ayorkor’s situation in Trapped remember Trailed. God’s goodness will ultimately come true for us, even if it doesn’t in the same way it did for Ayorkor and we aren’t led back to what we’ve always wanted, we can believe God has a plan far better than what we could have planned for ourselves as He promises in Jeremiah 29:11. If you haven’t already, do take your time to read Trapped and read my letter in it too.
May you forever remember that God knows.

Because of Him,
M’afua Awo Twumwaah.
